My introduction to pottery, along with many others in the 1970’s, was through school. My working life was far removed from any creativity so I yearned for a creative hobby as I approached retirement. My interest in clay was firstly rekindled with evening classes, then developed further with daytime classes once retired. Since then an inspirational Masterclass with Ashraf Hanna at the Clay College has lead me to concentrate on hand-built ceramics.
My focus at the moment is on sculptural pieces exploring form and texture. These are then single fired to earthenware temperatures and rather than being glazed are treated with a water seal or waxed to achieve a soft sheen.
